Ashlesha

Ashlesha Nakshatra is the ninth of the 28 Nakshatra in Vedic astrology. Ashlesha lies in the constellation of Cancer and has a span that extends from 16°40′ to 30°00′ Cancer. The stars Epsilon, Delta, Mu, Rho, Sigma and Zeta-Hydrae constitute this Nakshatra in the constellation of Hydra. The controlling planet for Ashlesha is Mercury (or Budha) and the presiding deity is the multi-headed water serpent, Naga.

The symbol of Ashlesha Nakshatra is a coiled serpent. This is indicative of the confusing state of mind that the natives of this star possess. People born under Ashlesha face emotional dilemmas, and always have a sense of insecurity in relations. Trusting people is not easy for them and if needed, they can act against even the closest of friends to protect themselves. The serpentine features also grant the natives with excellent leadership skills. They have a diplomatic approach and are usually soft spoken. Thus, the natives of Ashlesha display a personality that is a combination of poison, deception, intuition, leadership, and sexuality.

Ashlesha Nakshatra is of an antique nature. It is often associated with past lives and values its heritage. The mystique aura of Ashlesha makes it hard to understand or capture. Its natives are secretive yet very alert and intuitive. They are often the first to identify an impending danger, and will defend their family and friends. Ashlesha natives prefer only the best food and have very low tolerance for hunger. This is a star of evolution, growth, and healing energy but with a cryptic nature. Lakshmana and Shatrughna, younger brothers of Lord Rama in the epic Ramayana, were born under this Nakshatra. Mahatma Gandhi had his moon in Ashlesha Nakshatra at the time of his birth.

Ashlesha natives also have a tendency to be mysterious like snakes and it can be very difficult for the people around them to judge as to what exactly is going on their mind at any given point in time. Such natives like to keep secrets and they do not share their inner thoughts and many of their personal experiences even with their closest relatives and friends. Ashlesha natives always have a sense of insecurity of one kind or another and this is the reason why they do not share their mind with the others and keep a very big part of themselves secret from the others.
