Swati

Swati Nakshatra, the 15th Nakshatra in the Vedic Astrology, lies entirely in the sign of Libra. It has a span that extends from 6°40 to 20°20′ Libra. The word Swati translates to “the independent one.” The symbol of this Nakshatra is a young sprout quivering in the wind. It is sometimes alternatively symbolized by using a sword.

The two different symbols for Swati Nakshatra imply different characteristics inherent to the natives of this star. The young plant flowing with the wind depicts independence and freedom. The word on the other hand, denotes flexibility and agility along with a sense of restlessness. The ruling deity of Swati is Vayu, the god of wind. He bestows upon this star a strong, yet humble demeanor. The natives, as such, possess a free flowing energy, which is as soothing as the wind. They have a sweet voice and are usually soft spoken.

Rahu is the planetary ruler for Swati Nakshatra. Rahu implies hidden potential and unforeseen strengths. People born under Swati are often unaware of their powers. They need a teacher or a guide to bring out the best in them. The natives of this star are humble creatures and possess the willingness for new learning. However, sometimes dilemma or indecisiveness can get the best of them. They are prone to procrastination and becoming lazy. Those born under Swati are diplomatic and charming personalities. They are often merciful and charitable. The natives of Swati are strong advocates of social etiquette and do well to fit in with the society. They hold a positive outlook towards life and plan well before taking actions, instead of being impulsive.

Swati natives are usually patient to very patient and they are usually the ones who can make investments and then wait for long periods of times for those investments to mature and become fruitful where these investments can be financial, emotional, relational or other kinds of investments. Due to the patience aspect of this nakshatra, Saturn which is known as the planet of patience in Vedic astrology, gains maximum strength in this nakshatra and accordingly it witnesses maximum exaltation in Swati nakshatra which of course falls in the sign of Libra known to be the sign of exaltation for Saturn. On the other hand, the Sun which is known as the planet of quick decision and execution as well as the planet of individuality in Vedic astrology, becomes the weakest when placed in this nakshatra in a horoscope as the characteristics exhibited by this nakshatra are quite opposite to the characteristics of the Sun and accordingly the Sun finds itself very uncomfortable in this nakshatra. Rahu and Venus are also considered to be strong when placed in this nakshatra in a horoscope as both these planets are very much in harmony with the nature of this nakshatra.

Health Issues:

Swati is associated with the intestines and chest.

Health problems due to issues involving Swati include hernias, eczema, skin problems, urinary, bladder, kidneys, flatulence, and intestinal problems.

Swati alludes to the possibility that the body’s wind, its vayu and Vata-controlled functions, may be disturbed, especially if Swati is afflicted. Such Vata disturbances can cause many types of illness, including flatulence and other gastric distress due to gas production. An example of an afflicted, debilitated, or poorly/dangerously-placed Swati is in the case that Rahu (a malefic graha) occupies Swati it in a horoscope’s sixth house (the house of disease and material servitude).

As a movable nakshatra, Swati offers quick, positive benefits and grants speed, adaptability, and quick movement in both physical and mental realms. Such movement often promotes good overall health, but this movement can cause psychological instability of afflicted or if a Vata imbalance occurs. It is also possible that any possible health benefits granted by Swati, however, may be temporary and/or superficial.
